Who says gearheads aren't romantic? With Valentine's Day just around the corner, we here at E3 Spark Plugs are feeling all giddy, too. And to prove it, we decided to dig up the most romantic movie car scenes we could find. Here are our top faves:
- Say Anything (1989): The love scene between endearing underachiever Lloyd Dobbler (John Cusack) and the gorgeous and otherwise-out-of-his-league valedictorian, Diane Courte (Ione Skye) in his 1976 Chevy Malibu proved the iconic automotive hookup scene of the 1980s. Admit it - You've got Peter Gabriel's In Your Eyes playing in your head right now.
- The Virgin Suicides (1999): Set to Heart's hot-blooded Crazy on You, the brief but intense moment of pent up passion shared by high school heartthrob Trip Fontaine (Josh Hartnett) and the mysterious and lovely Lux (Kirsten Dunst) outside her super-strict parents' upper class Grosse Point home is pretty much every adolescent guy's fantasy. Never mind that the film isn't a John Huges-esque coming-of-age story but a Sophia Coppola rather disturbing Sophia Coppola mystery.
- Titanic (1997): You already know the scene we're talking about - the one where Jack truly does become king of the world when steaming things up with debutante hottie, Rose, and in the back of an early model Packard Limousine, no less.
