Stevie Fast Jackson Claimed Second E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod Win

When the E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod racing teams rolled into Topeka for Menard's NHRA Heartland Nationals, series points' leader Steve Jackson claimed his second overall victory of the 2019 Pro Mod season. Presented by J&A Service, Jackson's run featured a 5.747-second ET at 251.72 mph in his Bahrain1 Chevrolet Camaro. It was Stevie Fast's second victory at the Heartlands and his sixth career E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Wally.

Jackson entered the weekend with a special purpose to post a win at Topeka for his crew chief Billy Stocklin. Stocklin's father had unexpectedly passed away leaving the crew with a heavy heart. Jackson lowered his visor to post round-wins over Michael Biehele II, Erica Enders and Sidnei Frigo. Final round action culminated with a 5.747-second ET at 251.72 mph that just edged Clint Satterfield’s 5.933-second ET at 251.58 mph.

The first round of eliminations at the Heartland Nationals presented by Minties was filled with excitement. E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod Series racer Jeremy Ray was got the ball rolling in a spectacular on-track incident. Ray's ’63 Corvette crashed, skidded and rolled into the guard rail. Ray exited the "Carolina Kingpin" under his own power and was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Just as the smoke settled, regular E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod drivers Todd Tutterow of Lewisville NC and Steven Whiteley of Grand Junction CO, were involved in another on-track accident. Tutterow’s ’68 Camaro crossed from the left lane into the right lane after the finish line and crashed into Whiteley’s car. Both drivers exited under their own power and returned to their pit areas.

This was the sixth race for the twelve-race Pro Mod Championship. The E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service continues June 14-16 with the Fitzgerald NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals from Bristol TN.
