Reconstructed E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod 2020 Debut

Pro Mod racing teams are eager to put cars and drivers on track for the launch of the 2020 E3 Pro Mod NHRA Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service. Currently, the NHRA Mello Yello Schedule has the popular doorslammer class on the lineup for the July 18-19 event at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis. That will be the second of back-to-back weekends slated for the relaunch of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing 2020 schedule. Drivers in the E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod Drag Racing Series will contest a 12-event schedule in 2020 as originally planned. However, due to a scoring change requested by the race teams and approved by the National Hot Rod Association, racers will only earn points towards the season championship at just nine of the 12 events scheduled.

According to the latest RACER online, Pro Mod racers will earn points beginning at their season-opening event July 18-19 at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis as well as at the Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals in Denver, the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, the Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals in Topeka, the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte, the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals in St. Louis, the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals in Dallas, and at the Dodge NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas. Non-points earning events will take place at the NHRA Southern Nationals in Atlanta, the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, and at the Denso Spark Plugs NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis.

NHRA officials and promoters are striving to provide the safest environment to all its racers, officials, media members, and fans at all events on the 2020 Mello Yello Drag Racing series and E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod events. The National Hot Rod Association has spent numerous hours developing safety protocols and best procedures, including the wearing of masks, temperature checks, social distancing, enhanced disinfectant cleaning, and issuing of NHRA hand sanitizer. Until current coronavirus-related restrictions are lifted, only a limited number of tickets will be made available to NHRA Members. Everyone will be required to follow strict COVID-19 guidelines established by the appropriate state and local health agencies.
