Mid-Season Recap for E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Series

Pro Mod race teams around the country are preparing for the second half of the 2018 E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Series presented by J&A Service. With six races completed, Virginia Nationals winner Mike Janis holds a slim point's lead over a showcase of talented drivers like three-time world champion Rickie Smith, who claimed wins at Gatornationals and Heartland Motorsports Park earlier in year. At the most recent Thunder Valley Nationals, former world champion Khalid alBalooshi joined Jose Gonzalez and Jim Whiteley with one win each.

The fast-and-furious doorslammer class offers exciting action for its growing fan base with something unique for every hotrod enthusiast. Highlighted by muscle cars from the 1960s through late models, such as Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros and Firebirds, today's Pro Mod drag car produces more than 3,000 horsepower from supercharged or turbocharged engines running on nitrous or racing fuel. The bodywork for Pro Mod is basically regulated by the requirement for a suspended door with only few additional restrictions. Cars post quarter mile times below six seconds with top speeds above 250 mph.

J&A Service has been named the presenting sponsor for the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series for this weekend's 12th Annual Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Norwalk OH. J&A Service is a leader in flowback and oilfield production with hundreds of employees in ten states. President of J&A Service, Jim Whiteley and his son Steven, are both fulltime competitors in the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod division.  Jim claimed the Wally for round two of the 2018 season with a win at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown TX. Not to be outdone, Steven Whiteley was the number one qualifier at the most recent Pro Mod national in Bristol.

With dozens of top drivers competing in the class, standouts like Stevie Jackson, Chad Green, Mike Castellana, Todd Tutterow, Rick Hord, Bob Rahaim, Jeremy Ray and Danny Rowe are eager to join the existing five 2018 Pro Mod winners. The twelve-race series for the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service season will air on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) and FOX Sports 2 (FS2) channels.
