On April 22, National Hot Rod Association announced that FuelTech, an industry leader in performance engine management systems, would replace E3 Spark Plugs as the title sponsor of the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series for the 2022 season. Pro Mod will compete at ten (10) events during the 2022 campaign. The initial race was contested last month at the 53rd annual Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway in Florida and was won by Kris Thorne, who claimed his first career victory. The doorslammer class features the world’s fastest race cars featuring a broad array of body styles, engine power adders and fuel types.
FuelTech has been a key partner for several competitors on the NHRA national circuit for nearly two decades. It has a stellar reputation for its PowerFT line of engine management systems. FuelTech has helped power numerous of national wins and help competitors earn four NHRA world championships. FuelTech-powered victories include defending Pro Mod world champion Jose Gonzalez with five Pro Mod wins during his 2021 championship season, as well as Gatornationals Pro Mod winner Kris Thorne and Gainesville runner-up Sidnei Frigo. Gonzalez also made the quickest run in Pro Mod history with a 5.621-second elapsed time in his ProCharger-powered Camaro.
