“I’m in a state of shock,” wrote MSgt Frank when we broke the news of his win. “This is GREAT! You just made my weekend, my month and possibly my year!”
The Frinks have two children, including an 11-year-old son who is quite the RC enthusiast. Family, frequent moves and the stresses of military life mean limitations on potentially dangerous activities and pricey toys, as MSgt Frink noted in his official entry:
“My wife made me promise when we first got married that I could not get into car racing because of the inherent dangers,” he wrote. “She did not want our two kids growing up without a dad.”
Yet, racing had been a huge part of MSgt. Frink’s life. Though he’d love to slide behind the wheel of a race car and speed down the tracks, he’s committed to keeping his promise to his wife. So…
“RC racing is the next logical step,” he said. “However, being a long time Military member, we have moved around a lot. As such employment has been hard on the wife, and we struggle just to put food on the table. So a nice, race worthy car has never been an option. Winning one would be a huge deal for me as it would provide hours and hours of fun for me, and together time with my 11-year-old son who also loves RC cars and would love nothing more than to have a cool ‘toy’ like this at our disposal. With deployments, long hours and all the stresses that come with military life, a Nitro RC truck would make precious bonding time extremely memorable.”
