Arizona Bike Week Revs Up

The annual Arizona Bike Week is underway. The five day main “Cyclefest” event runs April 2-6 and promises to be the best ever – topping last year’s record 70,000 motorcyclist draw.

Among the most anticipated features for the 2014 event is the Peace Out, Prostate Cancer ride hosted by 2012 Miss Arizona Bike Week Shelley Martin and dedicated to the memory of her father and grandfather. The ride is $25 per person and includes stops at Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale, Greaswood Flat and Dirty Dogg Saloon. Check out the amazing skills of riders in the FMX Freestyle Motocross Extreme Stunt Shows and the Yo’ Face Stunt Show, and of course, the gorgeous gams on the Miss Arizona Bike Week pageant contestants.

Entertainers include former Staind frontman Aaron Lewis; Country duo Big & Rich; rockers Joan Jett & the Blackhearts and ZZ Top. But perhaps the most anticipated celebrity appearances are those of actors Kim Coates and Tommy Flanagan, who play Tig and Chibs on the FX series, Sons of Anarchy. For $25 per rider and $15 a passenger, you can join the SAMCRO bad boys on the Crusaders for the Children “Child Empowerment Ride.” This ride helps promote April as Child Abuse Prevention Month and funds raised are used within the local community to support child shelters, group and foster programs and events.
