Couldn’t make it to the tracks for the 35th Annual DART Winternationals Presented by Magnaflow? You’re in luck. Portions of the event, part of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and co-sponsored by E3 Spark Plugs, will air on three different television networks this year.
SPEED TV will air Saturday’s (Feb. 12) Winternationals events March 5 at 3:00 p.m. You’ll see Jimmy Owens land his first ever Super Late Model win at the “Clay by the Bay,” as locals call the East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, FL near Tampa. Owens had won in open wheel modified and crate late model before, but this was his first victory in the 40-lap super late model event and scored he Newport, TN resident $10,000. The night also saw Tim McCreadie claim the $12,000-purse in the finale win that almost wasn’t.
“Man the way the week started we weren’t very good, and I was not happy with anything,” McCreadie told reporters. “But the crew worked so hard the last few days to get us where we are tonight. Earlier in the week I never dreamed we would end up in victory lane, but it’s a great win.”
It was the sixth LOLMDS tour win for McCreadie, a second-generation racer.
VERSUS will air the Winternationals’ Friday night events (Feb. 11) on April 16 at 5:00 p.m. And MavTV will broadcast the same evening’s coverage June 2 at 9:00 pm. Billy Moyer and Brad Neat were the winners that night. While Hall of Famer Moyer made his 742nd career win (his 21st at East Bay Raceway Park), it was Neat’s first at the track and his third on the LOLMDS tour. E3 Spark Plugs congratulates all the Winternationals winners.
SPEED, VERSUS, MavTV and CBS will cover various LOLMDS events throughout the remainder of the 2011 tour. Visit LucasDirt.com and check your local TV listings to make sure you don’t miss any of the action.
