The National Hot Rod Association released category schedules for the sanctioning body’s 73rd season of side-by-side racing. This included several fan-favorite drag racing classes and specialty events being hosted for the upcoming season. The 2024 season will open on the East Coast at the 55th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals.
NITRO & STOCK – Professional classes for nitro Top Fuel, nitro Funny Car, and Pro Stock will race at all 21 NHRA national events. Pro Stock Motorcycle will compete at 16 events during the 2024 campaign, beginning with the opener in Gainesville. All four professional categories will also race in all six events in the Countdown to the Championship playoffs.
PRO MOD – FuelTech NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series has ten scheduled events beginning with at Gainesville Raceway for the season opener. After a very successful debut in 2023, the Pro Mod four-race Road to the Championship begins the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis and concludes at the fall race at the NHRA Nevada Nationals at the Strip in Las Vegas.
CALLOUT RACES – Grudge racing for all four professional classes will return with the Pep Boys NHRA Top Fuel All-Star Callout taking place in Gainesville and the Pep Boys NHRA Funny Car All-Star Callout thrilling fans in Indy. The Pro Stock All-Star Callout will again happen in Chicago, with the Pro Stock Motorcycle All-Star Callout taking place for the second straight year in Sonoma.
MISSION #2FAST2TASTY – The NHRA Challenge will return in 2024. Rematch races that allow Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle who qualified at the previous NHRA National to settle his or her feud while earning bonus points and cash prize money at fourteen regular-season events.
NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series
The National Hot Rod Association has announced the schedule for the 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series. There is a single race date (July 12 – 14) that is still being negotiated with event organizers and sponsors. Listed below are the confirmed dates for NHRA Nationals during the regular season, which includes two four-wide events as well as the sanctioning body’s Countdown to the Championship.

The 2024 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series has included both the Top Alcohol Funny Car and Top Alcohol Dragsters at fourteen NHRA national events. Super Stock, Super Comp and Super Gas will be contested at all twenty-one national event weekends. In addition, Johnson Horsepowered Garage’s 800-plus cubic inch Mountain Motor Pro Stock class will compete at six events and Top Fuel Motorcycle will compete at four select events in 2024.
