20 Best Bets for Hitting 200,000 Miles in One Ride

The Ford F-250 Super Duty tops the list of the longest-lasting rides on the road.

It’s a question that automotive salesmen hear dozens of times a day – especially as the economy continues take its sweet time recovering: “How long will it last?” E3 Spark Plugs set out to answer that question and, as luck would have it, found a recently released report by iSeeCars, an online car search engine. Researchers reviewed some 30 million used cars for sale, looking to find out which ones had been on the road the longest.

Here’s what they found:

  1. Ford F-250 Super Duty – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 4.2
  2. Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 3.6
  3. Chevrolet Suburban – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 3.6
  4. Toyota 4Runner – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 3.5
  5. Ford Expedition – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 3
  6. GMC Sierra 2500HD – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 2.7
  7. Chevrolet Tahoe – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 2.1
  8. GMC Yukon XL – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 1.9
  9. Toyota Sequoia – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 1.7
  10. GMC Sierra 1500 – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 1.6
  11. GMC Yukon – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 1.6
  12. Honda Accord – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 1.6
  13. Dodge Durango – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 1.5
  14. Subaru Legacy – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 1.5
  15. Toyota Tacoma – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 1.5
  16. Toyota Avalon – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 1.5
  17. Ford Explorer – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 1.4
  18. Ford F-150 – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 1.4
  19. Lincoln Navigator – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 1.4
  20. Chevy Silverado – Percentage of cars over 200,000 miles: 1.4

Researchers figure that trucks and SUVs dominated the list of the longest-lasting rides because trucks are more frequently used as work vehicles and might be better maintained, lest the boss get sideways. And, SUVs may tend to rack up more miles because they’re the transport-of-choice for soccer moms and vacationers.
